All surgeons and scientists question their own daily actions and strategies, therefore comparing them with other methods. Not only the surgeons, but also the patients and payers themselves have started questioning certain methods and started demanding scientific evidince for these methods before making a decision. This shows that clinical and scientific evidence is gaining importance in daily practice and should therefore be further looked into.
The Symposium comprises classic lectures, an interactive workshops and a discussion forum. The aim of the symposium is working towards a consensus and summarizing statements of the participants and experts. In this way a practical utility value is to be achieved through direct discussion, which extends beyond the duration of the congress by publication of the consensus states.
